Call for Artists: Market Place Mural Project

The Lake Stevens Arts and Parks Foundation, in partnership with the City of Lake Stevens, is seeking a professional artist or artist team to design and install a large-scale mural in a busy commercial area. This 300-foot-long (2,400 sq. ft.) mural will transform a high-visibility space into a community landmark while addressing ongoing graffiti issues.

Location: Lake Stevens, WA
Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2026, at 4:59 PM
Budget: $30,000 (inclusive of artist fees, materials, and installation costs)

Market Place Mural: Project Overview

    • Site: Exterior wall of Fairweather Pointe Condominiums at the corner of Market Pl. and Hwy 9

    • Theme: Open to artistic interpretation, but should celebrate the essence of Lake Stevens. Think community, natural beauty, history, and vibrancy

    • Timeline: Painting to take place in Summer/Fall of 2026

    • Compensation: The total budget is $30,000, covering:

      • Artist fees

      • Supplies (paint, brushes, primers, sealants)

      • Wall preparation and anti-graffiti coating

    • Any additional costs related to project execution

    • Open to professional mural artists with a proven track record of large-scale projects

    • Experience with community-driven public art is a plus

    • Artists with a connection to Lake Stevens are encouraged to apply

  • Artists will be selected based on:

    • Strength of past mural work

    • Ability to create a high-quality, durable, and engaging design

    • Experience working within budget and timeline constraints

    • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and the community

  • This mural will be a defining visual piece for Lake Stevens, seen daily by thousands of drivers on Highway 9. The ideal design will:

    • Reflect the spirit of Lake Stevens as both a town and a lake

    • Incorporate elements of nature, local history, and the surrounding environment

    • Be vibrant and engaging while remaining accessible to all ages, including children
