The Youth Jazz Ensemble
The Lake Stevens Youth Jazz Ensemble is a Big Band style jazz group created to allow the Lake Stevens youth to keep playing over the summer break. The band is comprised of musicians aged 14 through 21, all with varying skill levels. Yet our dedication to the music is what makes this band pro!

Aiden
DirectorAiden Kimball is a drummer and percussionist currently attending Western Washington University, working towards a degree in Music Education. He plans to pursue a career in Music Education by becoming a band director and enrolling in a graduate program for Music Ed. Aiden plays in a assortment of bands within both Lake Stevens and Bellingham, wanting to create community through good music.
“Doing the youth ensemble has been a great experience on my end. Not only does the band improve every rehearsal, but the individuals in the band learn how to work as a team. Working toward the same goal, music for the people. That’s my goal when working with the band. Making sure that by the end of the summer, we all improved on our ability to work with others” -Aiden Kimball
Phineas Ruji is a tenor saxophone player and current student to University of Washington, studying biology. He plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in healthcare after finishing his bachelors. Alongside a pre-med track, he is also considering minoring in jazz studies. Phineas plays in jazz combos and jam sessions all throughout the Seattle area, hoping to create community by spreading his passion of music.
